Kai Sushi&Bar in Wurzburg

Solid neighborhood spot. I’m sure every restaurant has changed this year but they’ve stayed busy and tried to remain safe even with so many people. I would vote this as best sushi in Raleigh even compared to the downtown fancy type places. Take home or eat in Kai is always a great experience. We love the black rice.

Really good sushi. Unfortunately, the ordering process can be a hassle and the phone will ring busy for hours. Please upgrade your phone system or invest in online ordering.

You can't beat this place! If you're lucky, you'll get Jenny as your server - NOT saying that they're not all great. Great sushi, great prices (current specials are 3 rolls for $27/ 5 tools for $40), and great service!

Great sushi for a great value! My husband and I have been ordering from Kai regularly throughout this pandemic, and while I love that they always ask before adding soy sauce or chopsticks to our takeout order, I really do wish they would use compostable containers instead of styrofoam. The food is delicious!!

Good food but most of the sushi roll menu is some form of spicy tuna. Would be nice to see some more variety with the specialty rolls.

Absolutely the BEST sushi place in Raleigh. Decent wait times and the people there are super respectful. Little pricey but you get what you pay for, high quality sushi. Highly recommend!

4 out of 5 stars for food, near 0 for service. My wife and I had dinner here around 7 PM tonight (8/9/2020) and had a server who was either brand new to the job or just very, very bad at it. I asked for water with no ice, she brought ice water. She said she'd bring edamame, then didn't for 10 minutes 'til I had to ask for it and her response was "oh I just put some in, someone took mine." That's cool, but the negligence and mistakes kept on coming. She brings the sushi, but the dish is incomplete and she has to bring out the rest separately a few minutes. She also didn't bring the small white dishes for serving soy sauce. This I also had to remind her of. There was no pre-bussing of the soup bowls despite coming over several times. After receiving the meal, there was no check-in at all, we just finished it then stacked our dishes up neatly and waited. Finally I had to go ask for a box and the check and this is where it really got bad. Instead of getting that box and check right away. She proceeds to a table to remove the dishes, goes back to the kitchen, comes back out to clean the table, goes back to the kitchen, comes out and greets guests at the front door and ONLY THEN does she come back with a box and the check. Instead of leaving the table with a stack of dishes, she just leaves the table, with 0 pre-bussing or attempt to make for a tidy table (which by the way makes it easier for her later). I waited tables for years and I get it if you're in the weeds, get triple-sat or something else but I observed none of those things in the long time we sat waiting for things. Last time the service was just slow, but not riddled with mistakes. I won't be coming here again.

The best sushi in N Raleigh! Always amazing quality and can’t beat their roll specials. We always order pickup and it’s always quick and efficient.

EDIT 7/18/20: The sushi is still great, however ordering has become an issue during COVID. We've had times where we have called for an hour only to get a busy signal each time. Once we finally got through only to be told it was too late to order and another time I just drove up there to order in person, but had to wait 45 minutes for the sushi, which I knew to expect. Hopefully they will either improve their phone system or invest in online ordering. Otherwise we'll have to find another sushi spot. We eat here a couple times a month getting take out. The sushi is consistently great and it's a decent value for what you get. It's the best sushi place we've found in this part of N. Raleigh. The stuffed avocado is amazing and the stiffed jalepeno is only one step behind. If you like sushi, you won't be disappointed.

The food was good, that's why it gets 2 stars. The service was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant hands down! We were served our food with no silverware, had to ask...no biggie. Had to ask for napkins...no biggie. I ran out of water 20 minutes in and never was even offered a refill, that's a biggie (for the next hour I had no water, waiting to see if the server would ever even notice). My daughter had Hibachi beef, I asked for a knife so I could cut the beef. After 10 minutes I asked another server for a knife, she looked and then I heard her tell my server who then said yea they asked me but I couldn't find one. Ok, so you cant find one so just stop looking and dont come back to the table? It took about 10 more minutes for him to tell me he was still looking. He FINALLY brought me one of the Chefs knives. I have never been to a restaurant that doesnt have knives? I ordered another order of chicken for my other daughter and edamame. A few minutes later the edamame came. About 15 minutes after that he came back and asked did we need boxes we said yes please and he brought them with the check. I had to ask the server how much longer until the extra chicken was done and he said oh let me check and immediately went and put it in the computer. He rushed to the kitchen, came back and said it would be 15 minutes did we want to wait for it....yes....my daughter is hungry!!!! Finally the chicken came out. Not a single apology, not a single bit of concern or anything....the food was good but I would have rather gone somewhere else for $85.

High quality fish, tasty salads, and lots of savory cooked options (for your friends who might be squeamish). Best scallop sashimi I've had in the area. Sitting at the sushi bar never disappoints and a cozy atmosphere all around. Plenty of covered outdoor seating too.

Amazing sushi. We normally get it to go but went and dined in tonight. Great saki selection. Waiter gave great recommendations for saki. Sushi rolls are all good haven't t had a bad one yet.

I moved to Arizona almost a year ago. I still have not found a sushi bar nearly as good as Kai. I can’t wait to go back home and get my favorites! The sushi roll deal is truly the best out there and the quality matches that.

Was disappointed expected it to be a good sushi spot, have not found good sushi yet in raleigh. Despite I've not tried every sushi restraunt. I guess alot of people have not had good quality sushi or know what fresh tuna taste and looks like. Looking for suggestions to find good sushi thanks

The sushi was so fresh and most Importantly it was very innovative. We gave the owner complete creativity to our menu and each course was better then the last. I am in NYC all the time for sushi and this place offers a comparable experience.

They have some of the best sushi I have ever had. Not only was it great, it was also very affordable which is surprising for North Raleigh. Nice atmosphere too!

Great atmosphere, quick service, fun rolls, and reasonable price..what's not to love. We live red and black rice with our sushi and hard to find in the area..so elated to find they had a few in their special rolls. I find their rolls to be creamy which is the texture I want when I get sushi..it means the rice is cooked well and not dried out.

Went tonight with two friends and the wait is definately worth it! We all had great service and the best and freshest meals. I took a meal and a couple appetizers to my son afterwards and he loved it too! It is our new have to go there once a week place.

My Mom and I visited Kai for lunch the other day and were extremely pleased with the service, food, atmosphere and prices! I ordered one of the lunch specials, Miso Soup + Salad + Piano roll (they have A or B rolls, and B rolls are a little more expensive - this roll was a B roll) which came to $12. My Mom ordered a glass of wine and the Raw Raw roll. The Raw Raw was fully raw (I know, shocking) with multiple fish, jalapeno and cilantro. I didn't taste her roll, but she was very happy with it and said it was fresh and delicious. My piano roll was so good, I'm drooling thinking about it. It was fully cooked, with spicy crab, shrimp tempura, avocado topped with shrimp, wasabi, mayo & soy glaze. My lunch special also had the BIGGEST side salad I've ever seen. It was HUGE, and had mixed greens fresh ginger dressing with carrots and avocado. So good!! The miso soup was perfect, too. I'm already planning my next lunch there - keep it up, Kai!!

Went here last night and the sushi was very mushy. We ordered three different rolls and they all kind of tasted the same. Not sure if it was just an off night, but I'm hesitant to come back :(

I visit here every week. Their sushi is amazing. I LOVE the surf and turf / magma roll. The stuffed avocado is amazing. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Sushi is fresh and tasty! I love the selection, this is my new sushi go to... check out the sushi specials, not bogo but definitely a great deal for quality sushi. Service isn't notable, the atmosphere and decor are something special. The surf n turf roll is to die for!
